This original pyrography piece brings together the rustic beauty of live-edge wood and the delicate touch of watercolor. Using a hot pen, I've burned the likeness of a great blue heron into the grain--capturing the patient stillness of a hunter poised on a weathered log in the middle of Horn Pond. Subtle watercolor washes add depth and life, from the heron's subtle plumage to his mighty size. The natural contours of the wood frame the scene, making each piece truly one of a kind.
