Handcrafted on live-edge wood, this pyrography piece captures the quiet brilliance of a male cardinal in its element. Using a heated pen, I've etched every detail--from the delicate curve of the branch to the cardinal's alert posture--before enhancing the scene with washes of watercolor. The rich, vibrant red of his plumage comes alive against the organic grain and natural contours of the wood, creating a striking balance between bold color and earthy texture.
